PROBLEMS BETWEEN THE MUNICIPALITY AND THE PRB HAVE LEFT DRAGASHI RESIDENTS WITHOUT WATER SUPPLY

Roundtable 21.01.2020

It is the eighth time that the Procurement Review Body (PRB) returns for re-evaluation the water supply project in the municipality of Dragash, considering that the evaluation committee did not make the proper evaluation even after numerous complaints from economic operators.

However, the citizens of Dragash request the municipality and the PRB to urgently unblock this procedure.

This issue was the subject of debate at the roundtable organized by KDI in Dragash, with the chairpersons of village councils, the Mayor of the Municipality of Dragash, Shaban Shabani, the expert from the PRB, Daut Retkoceri, and the members of civil society.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Dragash, Shaban Shabani, stated that the municipality is continuously implementing the decisions of the PRB and that the project has not started yet. He stated that “as a result, 1/3 of the population is suffering the consequences of this project, while the funds allocated by the municipality are going into surplus, and this is affecting the municipality’s performance assessment”.

Daut Retkoceri from the PRB stated that the PRB assessed that there were still discrepancies between the references and the evaluation, and returned the case for re-evaluation.

Meanwhile, the citizens suffering the consequences of this delay requested that the parties overcome these disagreements, and urged the municipality to urgently find a solution to this project.
