#KDI has organized 12 meeting in the last two weeks, in total 60 meetings between citizens from different villages of Kosova and local authorities in order to increase citizen participation in decision-making processes and increase accountability of institutions towards citizens.

In every meeting citizens have submitted at least three problematic issues that they face on their daily life and required from the institutional authorities to find a solution for the next year.

These meetings are organized within the project “Increase accountability of local government institutions in Kosovo”, supported by the British Embassy in Prishtina.

Raskovë, Obiliq

#KDI has organized a meeting in the village Raskova, in the municipality of Obiliq, when the citizens have requested for a kindergarten building. The municipal representative has informed that there is a plan to build the kindergarten in Millosheva but there is nothing concrete because as the beginning there will be build two sports halls.

Lajthishtë, Obiliq

In the village Lajthishte of the Municipality of Obiliq, in the presence of the municipal representatives, during the meeting organized by KDI, citizens discussed about importance issues for the village. Road infrastructure, sewerage network, public lighting and placement of sidewalk were some of the issues that the citizens gave priority to.  From the municipal representatives was told that with the new Law for Obiliq all these priorities can be implemented during the 2019 not just in Lajthishte but in all the villages and neighborhoods of Obiliq.

Rashan, Mitrovicë

KDI also has organized a meeting in the village Rashan of Mitrovica, where the citizens told that their priority is the transport of children to village school as well as for students attending high school in Mitrovica. Other requirements that where discussed by the citizens were fixing the water supply network, intervention in the damaged parts of the road and replacement of damaged electric pillar which presents a risk for residents. The Municipality directors present in the meeting expressed their willingness to contribute and solve these problems by saying that priority cases can be implemented during the year 2019.

Burim, Malishevë

For the citizens of village Burim of Malisheva priority are requests for placement sidewalks, sewerage, road infrastructure, public lighting, etc. The Finance Director of the municipality who was present in the meeting gave explanations and additional information about the 2019 budget for this village as well as the commitment that some of the citizens requests will be treated with priority over the following period.

Koretin, Kamenicë

The sewerage problem continues to be the main concern for the citizens of village Koreting of Kamenica. During the meeting that KDI has organized with the citizens from this locality and local authority has been discussed also about the impurity of Krivareka River and the lack of road signage in the village. For all these requests the local authorities promised to solve them during next year.

Hodonoc, Kamenicë

The next meeting in Municipality of Kamenica was held in the village Hodonoc, when the citizens has had the opportunity to address their concerns that make their daily life harder and to hear more about municipality plans from the authorities. For these citizens primary problems are the water supply issue, school fance and toilets repair and leveling of the terrain in a part of the village. For all of these problems the local authorities promised solution.

Petrit (Petroc), Kamenicë

Citizens of the village Petrit in municipality of Kamenica met on a meeting the local authorities where they had the chance to express their requirements against the municipality. For these citizens the main problems are: water supply, shields in the rivers of the village. Other concerns that also were discussed are: lighting in the village cemetery, E-kioska and laptop and printer at the village school. In this discussion, the municipal authorities promised that they will try to offer the solutions to the raised problems.

Batushë, Graçanicë

In the village Batusha of Gracanica has been organized a meeting with all communities that live there and local authorities, where the citizens expressed the need to provide transport for the pupils of Albanian community because there is no Albanian school in the villafe and pupils are obliged to attend lessons at the village Dobreva e Poshtme at the municipality of Fushe Kosova. Another concern that the citizens discussed was the waste landfills at the entrance of the village and other areas.

Local authorities who were present told the citizens that they will address these problems over the coming year.

Mamushë

For the citizens of Mamusha, their priorities are functionalization of the center of culture, building of library, sport hall, budget planning in cultural, artistic and sport activities, parks and public lighting. These requirements they presented during the meeting with the director of finance, organized by #KDI. He explained and gave additional information about the budget of 2019 and he promised that he will try to include these requirements and priorities in budget review (if there will be a budget review).

Llapushnik, Drenas

Problems with sewerage and its lack in some neighborhoods, overpass maintenance, lack of sidewalks and lighting were some of the worries that citizens of the village of Llapushnik, municipality of Drenas expressed in front of municipal authorities during a meeting organized by KDI. On the other side, municipality authorities of Drenas said that priorities for this village in next year will be the sewage treatment over the neighborhoods where there is no sewage and to fix the sewage which pour out near the school. They also said that the municipality will asphalt the underpass in the village in amount of 20 thousand euros, and next year will be asphalted the road that connects Llapushnik with village Poterrk.

Zllakuqan, Klinë

#KDI has organized a meeting between women of the local community of Zllakuqan of Klina and representatives of municipalities, where was discussed about the problems that women of this locality have. Lack of water, electricity power shortages, lack of pavement on the way to school were some of the problems they expressed to municipal authorities. Women present in the meeting complained about the lack of market for their activities, mostly in farming and agriculture. Otherwise, the local authorities, promised that their requests and concerns will be addressed in each directory, and encouraged women to raise their voice for their requests.

Brrut, Dragash

For the citizens of the village Brrut of Dragash prioritie is the requests of lack of water and sidewalks, public lighting, investments in preschool classroom in village, etc. Regarding these requests, municipal authorities who were present in the meeting organized by KDI, gave explanations and information about the budget of 2019 for this village and promised that these requests will be transmitted at the mayor of municipality and will try to push them to realizations.
