Local Councils remain one of the key mechanisms for mobilizing citizens to ensure participation and monitoring of decision-making processes at the local level. For this purpose, a two-day workshop was organized with the first group of chairs of the Local Councils from the Prizren Municipality.
This workshop aimed to increase the capacities of Local Councils, based on the concepts on the role of Local Councils in decision-making processes, the duties and responsibilities of Local Councils, the role and opportunities in monitoring the delivery of public services, and the strengthening of leadership capacities within Local Councils members etc.
Undertaking the volunteering actions for the benefit of the community, promotion of volunteering, mobilization of citizens in drafting public policy’s, articulation of requirements and protection of citizens’ interests vis-à-vis local authorities, monitoring of public service delivery, was seen as a possible mission by Local Councils.
This activity was organized from the program of “Local Governance and Civil Participation” which is supported by Olof Palme International Center (OPIC).
