Kosova Democratic Institute ( KDI ) welcomes the formation of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo which completes the formation of new institutions in observance of the outcome of the general elections of October 06, 2019. Functionalization of institutions is an opportunity for political life stability and development prospects.
The new government of Kosovo through its governing program must address the needs of the citizens by demonstrating the commitment required to undertake adequate reforms that guarantee sustainable economic development, the establishment of the rule of law, as well as strengthening state of Kosovo in international arena.
1. Sustainable economic development occurs when public policies facilitate the development of the private sector, where citizens take business initiatives without facing bureaucratic barriers and without being blackmailed by the holders of institutions. Policies which also promote the growth of foreign investment in Kosovo and guarantee a safe environment for foreign investors.
2. The rule of law shall be established only in accordance with the principle of check and balance of powers and the complete independence of the three branches of power. Judges and prosecutors should do their job with complete integrity, and political actors should guarantee an environment where they will not feel threatened in fulfilling their constitutional obligations.
3. In the international arena, the state of Kosovo is strengthened by a pro-active diplomacy aimed at building alliances with international partners that advance Kosovo’s interest, dignified representation and qualified professional diplomats.
KDI also requires on the new legislature of the Assembly of Kosovo to play a constructive role in fulfilling constitutional obligations in the effective oversight of the Government and other institutions, in drafting laws that push forward the reforms necessary for citizens welfare overall development of the state, as well as the dignified representation of the interests of citizens in compliance with their constitutional mandate.
KDI reminds MPs that the Kosovo Assembly should be the arena of meaningful discussions between political parties, regardless of their background, by renouncing non-parliamentary language and political clashes for narrow party interests.
