The last government, for almost three years has spent over 5.9 million euros of state budget. This amount was spent for salaries of the Prime minister, deputy prime minister, ministers, without portfolio ministers, deputy ministers and political advisers.
The aforesaid amount did not include other expenses that these state officials made, for example, per diem for travelling outside of the country, airfare, phone costs, food allowance, usage of office cars, usage of police escorts in certain cases etc.
The previous government had 21 ministries, two of them without portfolio. The present government mirrors the same structure, so it is expected to make the same expenses. Kosova Democratic Institute calls on the newly elected government to proceed to the parliament the new law on government which will outline the structure and composition of the executive. The law would also set forth the executive’s competencies and functions.
