Even this year, on December 9th, in the International Anti-Corruption Day, KDI and UNDP through online photo competition invited citizens to portray through pictures the effects of corruption in their everyday lives. The competition among others aimed at increasing public awareness of the devastating effects of corruption and the promotion of civil activism to support the fight against corruption.
Out of a total of 179 competitive pictures, the jury composed of professional photographers and media representatives, has selected the best three photos, which were awarded the following awards:
First prize 500€, Rexhep Kera’s picture.
Second prize 300€, Adi Beqiri’s picture.
Third prize 100€, Driton Bublaku’s picture.
The awards ceremony was attended by authors of pictures, media community representatives, NGOs, UNDP and KDI.
In this occasion, Valbona Bogujevci UNDP Program Coordinator, said: “It is very important that this issue is being addressed together with civil society and citizens, because citizens remain the most powerful and important partner in the fight against corruption”.
Meanwhile Ismet Kryeziu, Executive Director of the Kosovo Democratic Institute/ Transparency International Kosovo, said: “The pictures are the best facts that display the effects of corruption, and in the other hand confirm the truth about the level of corruption in Kosovo. Therefore all those who believe that corruption is only a perception should see these photos. “
This is the second year that KDI and UNDP organize such competition. While 20 best photos of the competition #hanhankorrupsioni have been exhibited at the ceremony, they will be used as gifts for different offices of local and international.
