KDI and the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs, visited Mitrovica to oversee the implementation of the agreement for Mitrovica Bridge

Kosova Democratic Institute (KDI) in cooperation with the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Assembly of Kosovo have visited Mitrovica to watch closely the implementation of the Brussels agreement on the revitalization of the Mitrovica bridge, where they monitored the works on the bridge over the Ibar River, accompanied by the mayor of this Municipality Agim Bahtiri.

During this visit it was assessed closely the progress made for the revitalization of this bridge.

Representatives of KDI and the members of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, after the visit held a roundtable discussion in the municipality, with the theme “Kosovo – Serbia Dialogue: Impact on citizen’s lives”, which aims to promote discussion between MPs and representatives of civil society and citizens on the process of Kosovo -Serbia dialogue.

During this roundtable they addressed issues of concern to all citizens, such as freedom of movement, education and normalization of interethnic relations in general.

Part of the discussion were numerous representatives of civil society organizations from the region of Mitrovica, representatives of embassies and international organizations and Elmi Reçica, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Pal Lekaj, MP, Agim Bahtiri, Mayor of South Mitrovica and Adrijana Hodzic, representative of North Mitrovica and Jeta Krasniqi of KDI.

Activities in Mitrovica were conducted within the project for strengthening parliamentary oversight of the executive and increasing citizens’ participation in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, financed by the Swiss Embassy in Kosovo
