In KinoKlub premises in Prizren, on 13 September, the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) in cooperation with DokuFest launched the documentary “Because of corruption” as part of a project supported by the European Union and the program for development of the United Nations (UNDP). The film was shown for students of secondary schools of Prizren.
The documentary was followed by a discussion session where the panel members – Alessandra Roccasalvo by UNDP, Edis Agani from EU, Hajrula Çeku of Ec Ma Ndryshe and Ismet Kryeziu from KDI exchanged their critical assessment on the content of the documentary. The overall assessment was that corruption begins in the family and society, which should be the main fault for the lack of integrity institutions and the will to fight it. After the speeches of the panelists, students in the audience shared their personal experiences of dealing with cases of corruption in education and its negative impact on the education and employment prospects.
At the end of the discussion, it conveyed a key message that regardless of the weak institutional system, citizens including students should be more proactive and to speak up to exert pressure and influence to enhance the integrity of institutions and promotion of social welfare in Kosovo.
During the year, the documentary will continue to appear with different audiences.
