Under the organization of KDI and NGO Polis, several municipal Mayors such Imri Ahmeti from Lipjan, Rufki Suma from Hani I Elezit, Vladeta Kostic from Graçanica, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Administration, Local Government and Media, Zenun Pajaziti, members of civil society and representatives of localities aiming to obtain the status of the municipality have come together to discuss about the challenges of newly established municipalities in Kosovo.

To the most municipalities in Kosovo financial sustainability remains a serious challenge. The creation of new municipalities, besides producing difficulties to the existing municipalities, it can be followed by even greater challenges such financial and economic sustainability.

 

In this roundtable was discussed about several initiatives of many localities in Kosovo, which have already filed for status of municipality and the impact that this might have on a “mother” municipality.
