“A CATALOGUE OF ISSUES OF VITIA”- THE ISSUE OF WATER SUPPLY IS A PRIMARY PROBLEM

21.01.2020

Kosova Democratic Institute (KDI) presents a catalogue of issues for the Municipality of Vita, which includes problems faced by citizens and prioritizes some of the essential issues that need to be included in the budget planning of municipalities for 2020.

As a result of field research, problems in road infrastructure, sewerage network, drinking water supply, public transport, condition of schools, waste management, public kindergartens and health services have been identified in this municipality.

The issue of water supply is the biggest problem in the Municipality of Vitia. The vast majority of the researched villages face problems with drinking water, which they consider to be a priority need. Another major problem is the contaminated water in the villages and schools of this municipality. Due to lack of water supply system, villages are supplied by wells and, in most cases, the water is not potable.

In most of the villages of the Municipality of Vitia, there are illegal landfills of construction material and other materials. Meanwhile, in some villages, waste collection by companies in charge is not done at all.

You can find all the details on these issues in the Municipality of Vitia in the catalogue attached below, whereas, in the following day, KDI will publish the catalogue of the 8 other municipalities investigated.

Moreover, the catalogue of issues was prepared during the period April-June 2019. A total of 275 settlements (villages/neighbourhoods) have been visited during this period of time. The purpose of this catalogue is to raise civic and institutional awareness of the importance of citizen participation in public consultations with municipal officials.
