KDI expresses its concern for the deviation of the project agreed to revitalize the bridge of Mitrovica within Kosovo – Serbia dialogue, through building of a wall on the northern side.

Mitrovica Bridge should serve to unite the citizens who live on both sides and any division including construction of partitions is unacceptable. Such actions are creating confusion among citizens, are inspiring a sense of insecurity and fear and are undermining the credibility of the process.

It is crucial that the country's institutions increase transparency and accountability towards citizens about the agreements reached in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia and their content.

KDI calls on the Government of Kosovo, in accordance with the obligations towards citizens, to monitor closely the implementation of the agreements arising from the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, to clarify as soon as possible the situation created and to take all necessary measures to ensure that the process of revitalization of the Mitrovica bridge is in service of free movement of citizens, their welfare, inter-ethnic coexistence and offers prospects for the development of both sides of the city.

KDI calls upon the Government and the Parliament to be vigilant in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia by ensuring that agreements reached and their implementation are in full compliance with the constitution and laws of the Republic of Kosovo.
