In cooperation with the Association of Journalists of Kosovo, KDI organized a roundtable discussion on the topic “Prevention of corruption in public procurement”. A guidebook/manual prepared by KDI was presented and aims at helping journalists and NGOs in monitoring the public procurement procedures and identify the risks of corruption.
This guide has been designed as a useful and practical tool to strengthen human capacities in monitoring the public procurement through providing a systematic and structural approach to monitoring.
Through instructions and examples, users will be able to identify more easily the violations in the procurement laws and standards. Furthermore, the guide highlights the “red flags” that serve as indicators for potential acts of corruption in procurement.
Findings from monitoring can serve either to prevent corruption – if a procedure is at an early stage, to denounce cases – if corruption has occurred, to advocate for the improvement of procurement procedures and to increase accountability and transparency institutions for spending public money.
The publication of this guide is supported by the British Embassy in Pristina.
