KDI IN LITHUANIA: EXCHANGE OF INTEGRITY OBSERVERS BETWEEN MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL ADVISORY GROUPS FOR PUBLIC PROCUREMENT IN THE WESTERN BALKANS AND TURKEY

In the framework of the EU-funded project “Integrity Monitoring in the Western Balkans and Turkey: Civil society fighting corruption with data on political integrity”, the Democratic Institute of Kosovo – TI Kosovo in cooperation with the Secretariat of Transparency International and the chapters of accredited by Transparency International from the region that are partners of the project (TI Bosnia and Herzegovina, TI Macedonia, TI Serbia and TI Turkey) on June 21, 2024 implemented the regional activity in Vilnius, Lithuania for bilateral exchanges between the members of the National Advisory Groups from the countries involved in the project.
National Advisory Groups (NAGs) were established in 2023 in all beneficiary countries and consist of members of government, academia, civil society organizations and the media to support the project throughout the implementation period (2023-2026) to share knowledge, identifying best practices in the field of political integrity, advocacy actions for the adoption of stronger standards, and support for national and cross-border enforcement actions.
GKK members who participated in the regional activity of the Integrity Monitoring project shared experiences, knowledge and best practices identified in the field of public procurement based on specific cases of countries in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
GKK members who participated in the bilateral exchanges in Vilnius represented public authorities in the procurement sector, civil society experts and academia who have extensive experience in this sector. They presented their views on good procurement practices at the national level and the challenges that exist in relation to the risk of political corruption and red flagging issues. In each presentation, KKK members shared experiences and best practices within anti-corruption topics and political integrity issues.
This regional activity was implemented in Vilnius as all Integrity Watch chapters in the Western Balkans and Turkey and elected members of the GKK participated in the 21st International Anti-Corruption Conference 2024 held in Vilnius, Lithuania (June 18-21 2024).
The Integrity Monitor in the Western Balkans and Turkey is a three-year project that started to be implemented from March 2023. It is led by the Democratic Institute of Kosovo (KDI) in partnership with the Berlin-based Secretariat of Transparency International and accredited IT chapters in the region. – Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey.
