DiA awards prizes for the five best videos of the #NeitherI contest

Today, on the eve of the Election Day, at the city's amphitheatre at the “Zahir Pajaziti Square” in Prishtina, the coalition of election observation organizations “Democracy in Action” awarded five of the best videos sent by young people, whose messages were the best in terms of the campaign #NorWillI vote for corrupt candidates.

The contest intended to encourage young people and citizens in general to give their personal views on “why they would not vote for the corrupt candidates”.

There were a total of 27 videos in the contest and the jury, composed by representatives of Democracy in Action, selected the five best videos made by:

Albulena Uka

Besfort Berisha

Egzona Shabani

Faik Mziu

Tringa Alidemi.

 

At the opening of this ceremony, Ismet Kryeziu from Democracy in Action stressed that the purpose of the citizens' initiative #NorWillI” vote for corrupt candidates is to encourage citizen participation in the voting process and object, with their engagement and votes, tolerance to corruption and candidates  involved in corruption affairs. “This vote will have increase political integrity toward a more worthy and accountable representation”, he said.

Meanwhile, the EU Chief and EU Special Representative in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova, on this occasion stated that:

“On Sunday, you will elect your new representatives in the Assembly. This is an opportunity where you can directly influence on Kosovo's future and your children's future. Take advantage of this opportunity. Do not let others decide for you. Get out and vote. This is the essence of democracy. Decisions are taken by those who are going to vote. The vote of each woman and each man is worthy”.

On the other hand, the United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Greg Delawie, stated that “Voting is very important, and I invite every citizen throughout Kosovo to participate in elections. Your vote is essential in shaping Kosovo’s future”.

The award for five best videos were given away by the EU Chief in Kosovo, Mrs. Apostolova, US Ambassador to Kosovo, Mr. Delawie and three activists and strong supporters of the #NorWillI campaign: the alpinist Arineta Mula as well as journalists and publicists Astrit Gashi and Imer Mushkolaj.
