KDI is holding meetings in villages and neighbourhoods in 11 municipalities of Kosovo with residents and municipal officials, with the aim to incorporate the priorities of residents in the municipal budget for 2020-2021.

In meetings organized at the beginning of November, the residents have had the opportunity to present directly their requests and priorities regarding the addressing of issues affecting their daily lives, which fall within the competencies of the local level.

The meeting in Skifteraj: At the meeting conducted with women in the village of Skifteraj in the Municipality of Vitia, the issue of the gynaecologist and the lack of public kindergartens have been considered a priority to be addressed by the municipal level.

The meeting in Godanc: At the meeting conducted with women in the village of Godanc in the Municipality of Drenas, women have asked to get a mammogram, pointing out that this is a request that has been addressed for two years now. Also, the high unemployment rate has been another concern that women have addressed during this meeting, requesting to be provided with agricultural grants by the municipality.

The meeting in Gracanica: An informal group meeting of young graduates has been held with representatives of the local level in Gracanica. Young people from Gracanica, who mainly live in the settlements/villages of the Municipality of Gracanica, have addressed the problems and challenges they face. Unemployment has been presented as a major problem, which has led to a potential migration of young people. Deputy Mayor Sasha Danic stated that the policy of the current administration is aimed at balanced development in all villages and settlements of the municipality. He also stated that he is aware of the great challenge regarding the issue of young people leaving the county, noting that all capacities at the municipal level are focused on this challenge.

The meeting in Shterpca: In the Municipality of Shterpca, a meeting has been conducted between women and municipal officials. Women have informed municipal officials that they want to be involved in the work of the informal group of women, operating within the Municipality of Shterpca. They informed the representative of the Municipality that they would like to contribute to solving certain problems and challenges that exist when it comes to information about women’s rights, the position of women in the public sphere, women’s political activism, and advocating for greater independence for women in the Municipality of Shterpca. The representative of the Municipality of Shterpca expressed her gratitude for this initiative and her readiness for further cooperation.
