Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) followed with concern the proceedings of the session of Municipality Assembly in Prizren.

The discussions during the proceedings of the session of the Municipal Assembly of 31 July degraded to verbal and physical attacks between the Member of Assembly belonging to PDK, Mr. Bardh Avdaj and Chair of the Assembly, Mr. Artan Abrashi.

Acts and clashes of the Members of Municipal Assembly in today’s session are in contradiction with the democratic values and norms to guide the proceedings of the Assembly.

Members of Assembly should be engaged in representing the interests and concerns of citizens; therefore, any refrain from this principle constitute a violation of the mandate and responsibility of the member of municipal assembly as representative of citizens.

KDI calls upon all Members of the Municipal Assembly of Prizren to refrain from denigrating language and verbal and physical attacks. At the same time, it requires from the Chair of the Municipal Assembly to fully observe the Rules of Procedure and take adequate measures against members of this institution that use denigrating language and verbal and physical attacks against members of the Assembly.
