WOMEN IN KLINA WANT TO ESTABLISH A NETWORK FOR THEIR IMPROVEMENT IN DECISION-MAKING

Roundtable 21.12.2018

Today, KDI organized a roundtable between representatives of the municipality of Klina, representatives of NGOs in Klina and citizens with the topic “Women’s participation in local governance”.

Part of this roundtable was the Mayor of Klina municipality, Mr. Zenun Elezaj, who thanked KDI for the work and support it has provided since September, stressing the importance of women’s participation in local government.

Elezaj vowed to engage in increasing the number of women in local government by inviting and encouraging women to take part in leadership positions.

Women in this meeting emphasized that prejudice is one of the main factors that women are not very active, and it was also stressed that women are also marginalized with regard to the support in any project.

At this meeting, it was stressed that it is necessary to establish a common network of women in order to strengthen the participation of women in local government.

This activity was developed within the project “Increasing Accountability of Local Government Institutions”, supported by the British Embassy in Pristina.
